Rare Bite Catering is a private and corporate catering company who have become famous at markets and cultural festivals for their fast and delicious Spanish style food.
The owner Leno Lattarulo is a prolific caterer and Spanish food connoisseur.
In 2007, Leno came to us wanting to set up a retail restaurant. He wanted a casual, market feel that would complement his existing business, and was able to secure a tenancy at the South Melbourne Market.
Studio Equator were commissioned to develop the visual identity and interior design for the restaurant, and thus Simply Spanish was born.
As Spanish food was not common, or perceived as mainstream, we wanted to create a visual identity which was straight to the point. Our logo design is based on an image of a bull, which is integral to Spanish culture.
We also designed a custom font to complement the logo, and applied a famous Spanish saying "Barriga llena, corazon contento" which means "Full belly, happy heart".
Simply Spanish has been wildly successful, and their signature paella, which is cooked in giant pans, has become an icon in the area. It has become so successful that Studio Equator is now designing an extension to expand this popular Spanish tapas bar and restaurant.
