Ortakoy is a Turkish restaurant in Highpoint shopping centre Maribrynong, owned by popular local belly-dancer Demet Sahan, famous for being in the Big Brother house in 2007.
Demet wanted to create a cultural experience with a menu specialising in gozleme, a traditional savoury Turkish dish of filled bread.
Our design used graphic murals as an educational tool to describe both the gosleme cuisine and the Turkish culture in a visually aesthetic way.
Mosaic tiles were used in a fun manner, contrasted by bold contemporary poster style graphics.
In the simple outdoor seating area we took advantage of the Turkish maximalist use of patterns to create a lively colourful experience.
