Destined for success: G-LUX Showroom, Richmond
Australian Interior Design Awards Shortlist 2013
In their first showroom G-Lux has taken the opportunity to convey their values and passion for the industry in a fresh and quirky way. Now located in Melbourne’s design capital Richmond, G-Lux are importers and wholesalers of stone, porcelain and timber.
Architect Robert Davidov of Davidov Partners and multidisciplinary design agency Studio Equator have together transformed the unassuming 1970s brick warehouse to a multifunctional venue that showcases the ever changing and evolving range of stone, porcelain and timber that G-Lux imports from all over the world. The showroom’s innovative design centres around custom fixtures and furniture inspired by the crates used to ship the exquisite stone slabs from the four corners of the globe. Think New York loft meets Melbourne’s design scene.
The warehouse has been stripped back to a fresh space of white walls and polished concrete, where the striking product and strong architectural forms are hero and somehow seem take you on a journey in a space where you can enjoy a drink and select products for your next project.
Starting from the swarm of porcelain butterflies at the entrance, the unique contemporary fitout is full of surprises. With multiple spaces allocated for permanent and temporary art installations, the showroom can easily double as a gallery or even a chic party venue with a difference.
Custom bench furniture and features cut from solid onyx and stone are an impressive testament to the versatility of G-Lux’s offer, and their passion for innovation.
The showroom is an exciting and inspirational space that will continue to evolve and delight, beginning with the launch event. To experience it for yourself visit them at 71 Balmain Street Richmond,
