In October 2011 the United Nations launched an emergency appeal to help an estimated 300,000 people in El Salvador after heavy rains caused widespread flooding across Central America. The immediate concern was to provide shelter, food and health care, but tackling the long-term effects was also expected to be difficult and costly.
The Consulate of El Salvador organised a fundraising day to be held in Fitzroy Melbourne in November 2011 to help raise relief money for the cause.
The event was a day of traditional Salvadorian and Latin entertainment and food with all donations going to the victims of the floods in El Salvador.
Studio Equator sponsored all the designs of the posters, tickets, art auction invitations and donation boxes for the event.
Our design uses a background of high floodwaters with a bold image of tears falling from eyes.
Each tear drop carries a piece of information about the floods, creating both an interactive and emotive design that catches the attention and delivers a strong instantly recognisable message.
