The DBC Associate program is an accreditation system for design studios that show excellence in the strategic use of design, and have completed the Design in Business Strategy program, which authorises them to conduct design audits for businesses.
The design audits are a process of analysis and reporting. They are a comprehensive evaluation of the use of design in a business, and how it could be improved. The audits include a visual presentation of the strategy, but do not include any design solutions.
The Design Business Council wanted a brandmark that would identify design studios that have been through the program and are accredited as an Associate of the DBC.
The logo needed to speak to and be easily identifiable by businesses, and to sit well with brands such as the Australian Industry Group, Australian Institute of Management and the Business Council of Australia, as well as the design studios that achieve accreditation.
Studio Equator's concept was inspired by speech bubbles, symbolising cross dialogues and the coming together of thoughts, ideas and conversations.
